Contact Officer
The above salary is based on a full time (37 hour) salary. If you are successful in a part time role this will be pro-rata'd to reflect your working hours.
Please note: Exceptions to starting salary may apply if you are an existing Police Staff employee substantively posted to a role at the same grade.

The potential starting salary for this role will be over £27,300 (this includes shift allowance and up to £2500 Weekend working allowance).
Salary:
- The commencing salary during your apprenticeship will be at 95% of the annual salary £24,894 per annum (which is a Grade 4 starting salary of £20,745 plus a 20% shift allowance of £4,149 per annum) once you have fully completed your apprenticeship you will go to 100% of the salary
- Once the apprenticeship is completed including the 20% shift allowance the salary starts at £26,204 rising by yearly increments to a maximum of £28,987 per annum.
- This post also attracts a weekend working allowance (which is claimable) this accumulates to approximately an additional £2500 per year (pro rata for part time working).

Owing to the nature of the role, candidates will need to have reached the age of 18 by the intake date.

You must be able to work as part of a close knit, supportive team and make decisions in situations which may be frustrating or distressing for the caller.
We have vacancies within our Exeter and Plymouth Contact Resolution Centres, where you will play a critical role in our response to both emergency and non-emergency calls, providing a first class service to the Devon and Cornwall public. You will be resilient, reliable and able to cope in a pressured environment – your decision making skills will be key. You will receive a variety of calls, often challenging in nature. At times you will be talking to people in potentially dangerous or vulnerable situations – they may be distressed or panicked and it is down to your ability to stay calm and determine the most appropriate response to make sure they get the help they need.
You will receive a high standard of training both at the start and throughout your career as we support you to make the most of your qualities. As part of your initial development, you will not only complete training and become a qualified Contact Officer, but will also gain the Level 3 Emergency Call Handling Apprenticeship. We would like to add that all the training is completed within your working time and there will be no expectation to complete any work outside of this.

Hours:
37 hours per week via a 24/7 rotating shift pattern
We do accept part time applications however you will be employed on a full time basis during the training period and part time shift patterns do apply.

Monday 7 November 2022: Invite to Situational Judgement Test sent.
Sunday 13 November 2022: (noon) - Situational Judgement Test closes.
Monday 14 November 2022: Invite to virtual assessment sent.
Tuesday 22 November 2022: (Midnight) closing date for virtual assessment
Thursday 24 November 2022: Information event 6.30pm to 7.30pm
Saturday 3 to Sunday 4 December 2022: Interviews
Intake Date: Thursday 30 March 2023
Due to essential training no annual leave will be permitted for 30 March to 24 May 2023
