The above salary is based on a full time (37 hour) salary. If you are successful in a part time role this will be pro-rata'd to reflect your working hours.

Policing in the UK faces a series of challenges as it seeks to modernise and make the most of technology and innovation to respond to modern and future demands. The Forensic Capability Network (FCN) and Transforming Forensics (TF) Programme is designed to support forensic science to turn this challenge into an opportunity. Transforming Forensics is an NPCC/APCC national transformation programme. Our mission is to create advanced and coordinated forensic capabilities, products and services that meet the changing needs of policing and the public. TF powers the Forensic Capability Network - policing’s new national, networked approach to forensic science.
The NPCC Digital Forensic Science Strategy (DFSS) sets out the key challenges that DF science faces and the vision for transformational change required to meet these challenges. The main purpose of the Scientific Support Officer role is to enable the delivery of the DFSS by supporting cross pillar working within the FCN and engagement with FCN stakeholders.
Responsibilities include - working closely with the broader FCN community, provide advice and guidance to FCN members on all DF science matters to support transformational change in digital forensic science.
Acting as a focal point for DF enquiries and requests for assistance to the FCN and within the Core FCN.
Supporting the FCN DF Science team and TF partners with the identification and preparation of new capabilities for implementation.
