Salary: Grade 7 - Starts at £34,968 rising by yearly increments to a maximum of £39,036 per annum 
Please note that the above salary is based on working 37 hours per week. If this role is part-time or you are appointed on a part-time basis your salary will be prorated to reflect this. Exceptions to starting salary may apply if you are an existing Devon and Cornwall or Dorset Police Staff employee substantively posted to a role at the same grade.

Type of working arrangement: Static-Worker - A Static-Worker has little or no opportunity to work remotely as they need to carry out their work at a specific force premises, this could be for a number of reasons including the location of equipment. 
Hours per week: this role is 22.5 hours per week. However we welcome applications from individuals wishing to work on a part-time basis and are willing to consider flexible working patterns subject to business need.

The salary for this part time role, 22.5 hours per week, starts at £21,264 rising by yearly increments to a maximum of £23,738 per annum.

The police staff investigators role PIP 2 in MCIT involves investigating serious and complex crimes, dealing with victims, offenders and witnesses for Level 1 and complex high profile Level 2 crimes.  This will include murder, rape, corporate manslaughter, domestic abuse, child abuse, vulnerable adult, missing, acquisitive crime, serious offences, enabled cyber and dependant cyber cases.  A significant number of these cases will be heard at Crown Court and will therefore be subject to rigorous scrutiny, the offences will often involve the most serious level of offending and will therefore have the greatest impact on the victim and communities.   In particular to: - 

  • To safeguard and protect vulnerable people, to investigate and detect NIM level 1 and level 2 crime and bring offenders to justice thereby supporting the Force mission, and organisational proprieties. Furthermore, to support the OPCC plan.
  • To investigate level 1 and level 2 crimes, managing victims, and interviewing offenders and conducting a thorough investigation. Preparing papers for court and give a clear rationale and update on NICHE.  PIP2 investigators will deal with the more serious and complex cases and therefore will predominately give evidence at Crown Court. 
  • Completing appropriate risk assessments for victims and offenders. Identifying vulnerability and implementing suitable measures to negate the risks.
  • Working alongside Partner agencies to manage the risks, working with the victim care unit to support victims.
  • This role will require the applicants to travel to all parts of the force area and often out of force to conduct enquiries often at short notice. This can require the applicant to stay overnight on enquiries on occasion.

Selection Stage: 

The selection for this role will consist of Shortlisting, Interview.
