Job description

As an officer in the JICC, you will be responsible for facilitating and developing intelligence in relation to a variety of criminal activity linking to National Crime Agency (NCA) priorities and threat areas, by using international law enforcement tools.

You will be working in a dynamic environment, prioritising and managing expectations of both UK and international partners, whilst delivering a quality service to meet customer needs.

You will be required to maintain a flexible and innovative approach, adapting to fluctuating demands and priorities, which could range from simple intelligence checks to complex crimes in action.

The JICC has the following Policing and Partnership Engagement desks/teams:

  • Watchlisting, Ports and Borders Desk - who support Territorial Policing to make best use of opportunities presented in relation to international travel to protect the UK from criminal threats.
  • Foreign National Offending Desk - who support territorial policing to manage and effectively investigate foreign national offenders who come to the attention of policing/UK law enforcement.
  • Police Cooperation Desk  - who advise UK law enforcement on overseas cooperation matters, including liaising with Foreign Law Enforcement Attachés based in the UK.
  • Judicial Cooperation Desk -  who support policing with carrying out effective multi-jurisdiction international investigations and associated evidential process/standards, including cases where financial investigation support is required.
  • Prüm &  Biometrics Desk - who support policing and the NCA to identify criminal biometric links across Europe and Internationally, utilising Prüm and Interpol.

What the Role Involves:

  • Supporting police investigators and external partners with international policing advice.
  • Working collaboratively with other agencies and government/Home Office partners to deliver international crime-focused initiatives.
  • Delivering presentations to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Undertaking national investigative and intelligence enhancement activities and tracking outcomes.
  • Producing guidance and training materials to support policing knowledge and understanding.
  • Identifying opportunities for procedural improvement and recommending/implementing change.
  • Acting as a conduit between UK operational law enforcement and international partners.
  • Facilitate the sharing of police data and information.
  • Managing a specialist team from one of a number of thematic areas within the JICC.
  • To identify, manage, mitigate and prioritise risk.
  • To creating opportunities for capability building.

Eligibility: This role is a closed competition and to apply you need to be:

  • A police officer at the rank of Sergeant on a lateral basis.


  • A police officer at the rank of Constable, currently on a select list for promotion to Sergeant, on Temporary Promotion, and with relevant experience to the role.
