Crime Scene Investigation: Team Leader

We are welcoming applications for the role of Crime Scene Investigation: Team Leader with Dorset Police based at the following location(s): Poole Police Station (PS)  

Salary: Scale H - Starts at £41,928 rising by yearly increments to a maximum of £46,674 per annum 
Please note that the above salary is based on working 37 hours per week. If this role is part-time or you are appointed on a part-time basis your salary will be prorated to reflect this. Exceptions to starting salary may apply if you are an existing Devon & Cornwall or Dorset Police Staff employee substantively posted to a role at the same Scale.

Type of working arrangement: Static-Worker - A Static-Worker has little or no opportunity to work remotely as they need to carry out their work at a specific force premises, this could be for a number of reasons including the location of equipment. 
Hours per week: this role is 37 hours per week. However, we welcome applications from individuals wishing to work on a part-time basis and we are willing to consider flexible working patterns subject to business need.

Are you an established CSI leader, or have aspirations to be so?

South West Forensics (SWF) are seeking a high calibre leader for our regional CSI Teams. You will be employed by Dorset Police working alongside two other Team Leaders in Dorset and will be a key first line manager for supporting forensic operations across the South West region. You will have responsibility for Crime Scene Management (CSM), bringing logic and order to chaotic crime scenes, working alongside investigative colleagues and specialists to enabling justice through forensic evidence. CSI Team Leaders are pivotal positions helping to influence and shape the direction of our collaboration teams.

SWF is a four-force forensic collaboration, where opportunities for work extend across the whole of the South West collaborative region.

We want a caring leader that will complement and support our teams, inspire our people and deliver a high-quality service to victims of crime. You will provide excellence in forensic investigation for the communities we serve. This will include working alongside an ISO Technical Lead who is also a Team Leader implementing and maintaining ISO 17020 accreditation and providing quality assurance for the work of your team. You will work on a shift pattern comprising day and late shifts, across seven days with regular on-call CSM duties and out-of-hours working.

Annual Leave Entitlement:

Dual working: This role will require the post holder to travel to alternative locations on an ad hoc basis to undertake the role, travel expenses will be reimbursed in accordance with force policy.

Selection Stage: 

The selection for this role will consist of Shortlisting, Interview.

If successful, you will then be invited to an interview. This will be based on the essential criteria outlined within the job description. The interview process is due to take place week commencing 29 April 2024.
