Media Officer
The above salary is based on a full time (37 hour) salary. If you are successful in a part time role this will be pro-rata'd to reflect your working hours.
Please note: Exceptions to starting salary may apply if you are an existing Police Staff employee substantively posted to a role at the same grade.

The purpose of the role is to develop and implement issue and incident specific media strategies, often in liaison with partner agencies, in order to generate accurate, balanced and positive publicity to help reduce crime and enhance public confidence, working either within Dorset or Devon and Cornwall. The main responsibilities of the role are:
- Assess information to ensure an open and transparent service is provided and decide which information should be disclosed for legal or operational reasons
- Provide media updates on incidents and crimes
- Train and support staff to ensure the organisation is represented appropriately in its communications with the media
- Provide strategic and tactical communications advice and guidance to officers and staff
- Deliver a comprehensive media monitoring / horizon scanning service to ensure both forces are alert to news stories and that they maximise opportunities to generate positive publicity.
