A Hybrid Worker is an employee whose role can be performed remotely from a variety of alternative locations including force premises, partner organisation premises or a member of staff's home. 
This role will require the post holder to travel to alternative locations on an ad hoc basis to undertake the role, travel expenses will be reimbursed in accordance with force policy.

Starts at £34,968 rising by yearly increments to a maximum of £39,036 per annum

The above salary is based on a full time (37 hour) salary. If you are successful in a part time role this will be pro-rata'd to reflect your working hours.

This Business Analyst role sits within the Business Change Department, which covers the counties of Devon, Cornwall and Dorset. We are responsible for delivering multi-million pound projects and change activity across both Devon & Cornwall and Dorset Police forces, and this exciting role is to understand and analyse the organisation’s needs, its business model, processes and systems to support the delivery of change.

Our Business Analysts support a wide range of projects and business initiatives and can include system changes/ upgrades, departmental/ staffing moves, changes to infrastructure, new and evolving technology and evolution in the modern world of automated processes.  Your involvement could start at any point of the change lifecycle, from scoping through to testing and go-live, working with stakeholders to provide valuable insights into improving efficiency and effectiveness of policing.

You would become a valued member of our friendly and welcoming Business Change department, comprised of a variety of roles bursting with a wealth of knowledge and experience. Specifically, the Business Analyst role sits within the Business Design Team and would receive incredible support from analysts both within the team and the wider organisation to ensure you feel confident and equipped in delivering this crucial role.

 

Main Responsibilities

  • Act as the bridge between operational / business areas, Business Change and ICT. Engaging with various departments to understand their challenges and needs, and the organisation as a whole.

 

  • Use various techniques to analyse information, elicit business and/or solution requirements and findings

 

  • Identify opportunities and risks for strategic and operational improvements and changes.

 

  • Support our project managers and business leads in delivering analytical products as part of the project team, performing a range of activities including feasibility studies, impact analysis, gap analysis, process mapping and benefits realisation management.

 

  • Produce written documentation to support your work, communicating regularly with key stakeholders throughout and preparing presentations etc.

 

  • Demonstrating your personal initiative by identifying how the Business Analyst can further support and add value to project delivery.

This department boasts a great deal of flexibility, with a hybrid-working approach – meaning whilst the role will be based from either Dorset Police HQ Winfrith or D&C Police HQ Exeter, there is the opportunity for all staff to work from other locations that suit them, including at home, but with the understanding that there is still a requirement to attend appropriate locations/ meetings that fit the task or project you are working on when necessary. The department also offer flexible hours and a ‘flexi-time’ policy whereby any additional hours worked can be claimed back in lieu.

  • Excellent communication and teamworking skills
  • Organised and efficient, with the ability to work to unsupervised within pressured timescales
  • Advanced analytical and statistical skills, with a proven ability to use information methodically
  • BCS Practitioner Certificate in Business Analysis Practices, Modelling Business Processes and Requirements Engineering or equivalent qualification/experience
  • Fully competent and experienced in MS Office applications
  • Experience of working within a project or business change environment or similar is useful

 

This is currently a temporary agency assignment, concluding 31 March 2023.

The successful applicant will be subject to vetting and referencing checks prior to commencing employment. Interview questions will be in line with the behaviours listed on the role profile.
